The MPAA has given a movie ("Facing the Giants") a "PG" rating because it is too religious.
The MPAA, noted [Kris Fuhr, vice president for marketing at Provident Films], tends to offer cryptic explanations for its ratings. In this case, she was told that it "decided that the movie was heavily laden with messages from one religion and that this might offend people from other religions." (Terry Mattingly On Religion)
Are anti-religious films rated similarly because they might offend believers?

Personally, I'm offended at having to shell out $9.50 to see a movie in a tiny theater that I will be able to pick up on special at WalMart for $10 just three months after release.
I say we start rating the theaters...
"This theater has been rated R by the Motion Picture Association of America. Some prices may be unsuitable for seniors or anyone else with a possible heart condition. No one admitted without good credit."
$9.50? How about when you bring the wife and kid?
Theater owners are upset at the idea of simultaneous release in theaters and on DVD but it's only a matter of time. It might as well be simultaneous release for me because, like you, I'm willing to wait a couple months for the DVD.
